Who we are
Bolton Painting and Decorating Quotes is a matching service run by Peter Colburn. We are not a painting and decorating company and we don't do the work ourselves.
We don't have a firm covering this area yet.
How we're paid: We are paid by the firm we pass enquiries to: a fee for each enquiry we pass on. You don't pay us anything.
How it works
How it works once a firm covers your area. No firm does yet.
- Tell us about the job using the form. A photo helps.
- When a firm covers your area, we send your enquiry to that one firm only, named on the page, with your permission.
- The firm may contact you to talk about the job and a quote.
- You decide whether to go ahead. Any agreement is between you and the firm, not us.

Before you agree a quote
- Ask for the quote in writing, with what's included.
- Ask the firm about their insurance and any guarantee on the work, and check what they tell you.
- Be wary of paying the full amount up front.
- Get more than one quote if you want to compare.
- If you agree the work at home, by phone or online, you usually have 14 days to change your mind.
- Paying a deposit by card can give you extra ways to get money back if things go wrong.
- Older paint, especially in homes built before the 1960s, can contain lead. Don't dry-sand old paint; ask the firm how they'll prepare it.
- Ask for the quote in writing, with what's included, before any work starts.

Questions
Are you a painting and decorating company?
No. Bolton Painting and Decorating Quotes is a matching service. We don't visit, quote or do any work. We pass your enquiry to one independent local firm, named on this page before you send anything, with your permission.
Why one firm?
So you aren't flooded with calls. Some sites pass one request to several firms. We pass each enquiry to one firm only, named on the page before you send it. We don't have a firm covering this area yet. You're always free to get other quotes elsewhere as well. We are paid by the firm we pass enquiries to: a fee for each enquiry we pass on. You don't pay us anything.
Who will contact me?
We don't have a firm covering this area yet, so we can't pass on any enquiries at the moment, and we won't send your details to anyone. If you like, we can email you when a firm joins. We can't promise a firm will be available for every job.
What if the firm doesn't get in touch?
If the firm hasn't been in touch with you in time, we'll ask you before passing your enquiry to another firm. We never pass your details to a second firm unless you say yes.
How do you check firms?
Our How we check page lists each check we've done, the date, what we saw and where we saw it, plus what we don't check. A check shows what was true on that date. It isn't a promise about the work.
How is this site paid for?
We are paid by the firm we pass enquiries to: a fee for each enquiry we pass on. You don't pay us anything.
What if no firm covers my area?
We tell you honestly that we don't have a firm covering your area yet, and we don't keep the enquiry or pass it to anyone. If you like, you can tick a separate box to be emailed when a firm joins. We then keep only your email address and the first part of your postcode, use them only for that, never pass them to a firm or anyone else, and delete them within 90 days at the latest.
What happens to my details?
We only share them for this enquiry, with your permission, and we delete them after 90 days. We use no tracking or advertising cookies. See our privacy notice for the full details.
What are my rights if I agree a job?
If you agree the work at home, by phone or online, you usually have 14 days to cancel. Our Your rights page explains this and how paying by card can help. It's general information, not legal advice.
What should I put in the description?
Which rooms or areas, roughly how big, what's there now, and whether you'd like paint, wallpaper or both. A photo helps.
Do I need to move the furniture?
Ask the firm what they expect. Many ask you to clear small items and will cover the rest. Check what the quote says.
